I'm in Argentina!!!

Hola mi familia y mis amigos,

Greetings from the land south!!! So how are things at home?  Things are going here.  Yes, they are going.  Everything is different than I thought--the culture, the language, the food; everything is harder than I could have imagined. My feet hurt from walking so many miles a day. But I love it!  Sometimes I cry because it´s so hard, but then I feel better and get back to work.  When I am working I love it. My companion is Hermana Morales.  She is from Mexico and is a very good missionary.  I have more time in the mission field than she does, but I am a baby in Argentina. I know I am getting better at Spanish because Sister Morales speaks no English, but she still understands me even though she says I speak like a little child. But it's cool; I have to start somewhere.

I'm so glad I got to travel here with my good friends from the MTC. President and Sister Carter are awesome.  Sister Carter said that we are her longest visa waiters ever.  I have so much to learn and not a lot of time to do it. If I worry too much about the language, it makes me sick because I want to be a good missionary and need to learn Spanish!  I've spent most of my mission so far speaking English, but I'm looking forward to making this time in Argentina the best 10 months of my life.

That's all I've got, mom. This week I'm just overwhelmed. I'm just going to take it one day at a time. I need to run because I have an interview.

Last Days in SLC!!

Hi all,

So it's not a joke, I'm really going to Argentina!  REALLY!!

For my last email to President Eberhardt, I sent him my testimony.  At the risk of sounding super preachy I am going to add it haha!

"Before I leave I would like to share my testimony with you. First and foremost, I know that Jesus Christ is my brother, my Savior, and my Redeemer. I love him.  Eighteen months of obedient, diligent service doesn't even begin to cover what I owe Him. I have a testimony of obedience. I know that I need to give even my thoughts to the Lord, so that I can be truly obedient. So that is what I work for, every single day. I want to be able to give one hundred percent of everything I have to this work! I want to be a worthy vessel the Spirit can work through to teach my brothers and sisters the truthfulness of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. This gospel is the truth; I love and am honored to proclaim it to everyone! This mission has helped make me a better person, and it is exciting to see how the lessons I have learned here will affect my future. I love you President, and Sister Eberhardt too!"

Okay I am a missionary; I am allowed to be preachy!

The miracle of the week was James got baptized!!! YAY! YAY! YAY! Super awesome! He has been so accepted into the ward family.  It is great.  Also two people in Granite got baptized this week, Laura (YAY!) and Efiphonio.  SO, it was a miracle weekend!

I am leaving Park City to stay in Cottonwood for two days.  I leave in about an hour.  So I'll be closer to the Eberhardts.  I'll get my packages from the mission office today. My travel plans are as such.  I am leaving Wednesday at 8:45 in the morning from Salt Lake to LA.  Then, LA to Atlanta.  Then, Atlanta to Buenos Aires.  I will arrive at 8:30 Thursday morning.  So a whole day of travel!   I am not sure if I will call you from LA or Atlanta.  So be prepared for both haha.

I am so scatter brained, but I love you all, and will talk to you on Wednesday!

Guess who's going to Argentina?

....ME!!! on the 25th! Can you believe it?...because I can't! After 5 transfers as a visa waiter and over 7 months, I was beginning to wonder?!!

This week in Park City has been amazing! But seriously! AMAZING! We have taught, worked at the Tree, and had an incredible time.  Our awesome investigator James is getting baptized on Saturday, so that is perfect because I will get to be there right before I leave.

Marc and Nic are waaaay too cute in those homecoming pictures...

I'm going to Argentina!

I don't have a picture of our little barn/apartment! I will get one for next week!

I can't really think!

If you want to send me anything, you need to do it fast.

...but seriously anything, ya'll know what I love.

...I'm leaving on a jet plane!!! To Argentina. Don't know when I'll be back again!! Actually I'll be back next August.

Sister Zeiner is great; I love her; she is like my sister; I am so sad to leave!

...Don't cry for me Park City....I'm going to Argentina!

Now the only question people is...WHAT AM I GONNA WEAR!!??

Love you all, maybe I will have more words next week!

Sister Chloe

ps. I went to the Salt Lake Temple for the last time on my mission today and it was amazing! SOO happy with the timing, even if it had to be late!

Park City

Hello from Park City!!

When I got transferred last week I was so sad, and I never imagined that this would be where I ended up! Together with Sister Zeiner, we are taking over the Park City Stake and the Family Tree Center on Main Street! I have received the exact opposite of what I expected. I was expecting the dusty streets of Argentina and have gotten the mansions in the mountains in Park City.  It is like a different world here.  I forget all the time that I am still in Utah.  We live in a cute little barn.  Seriously little, but it is perfect, and we have to climb up a ladder to a loft to get into bed. haha.

I am working on the east side of the Park City Stake in the Park City Ward, Snyderville Ward, the Silver Creek Ward, and the Park City YSA Treasure Mountain Ward.  We spend half of our time working with the wards and the other half in the Family Tree Center.  It is right on main street and is so cute.  We take people on tours and help them do family history, and I am having an amazing time!

My new companion, Sister Zeiner, is seriously amazing. She is from Connecticut and went to BYU-I before her mission for three years.  I love her! She has been out for over a year and served in the visitor’s center for 7 months in the beginning of her mission.  The other three companionships in the Tree are training so we are the most experienced companionship here. We are perfect for each other! I really miss my friends from last transfer, but since I had to leave Cottonwood, I'm glad to be here!

Our wards are awesome! We were able to talk with the Snyderville activity day girls, and all of them remind me of Anna.  Thinking of Anna made me so sad! But those cute girls are my new little best friends.  This is the strangest mission ever.  My area is smack in the middle of Park City.  Technically even the visitors’ ward is my area, although we don't really do anything there.  I have the view of beautiful slopes.  The members are amazing, and are trying so hard to get us work.  Just for the record, yes, I am again in English.  It is awesome though because I am so excited for Sister Zeiner and I to white wash Park City. I miss Cottonwood! But at least I was once again put somewhere amazing with my best friend of 5 days, Sister Zeiner! I'll let you all know where things go from here!

No one is allowed to feel sorry for me for being a visa waiter anymore. Get over it!!  I have!!

Sister Walker

ps. I get a new tag again, this one will say Park City Family Tree Center underneath my name!  So I’ll have an Hermana Walker Spanish tag, a Sister Walker English tag, and now a Sister Walker Visitor’s Center tag!

Goodbye to Sister Guerra :(
pss. My clothes are a problem.  They are for Argentina, and I am currently in the opposite of that in a Visitors Center in Park City!  The least Heavenly Father could have done is warn me about my wardrobe. haha!

psss. Grandma Leslie, I'm praying for you to get better soon.

Goodbye to the Crowleys :(

Saw my mission mom, trainer, Sister Corralles, at transfers :)
The mission president from The District Movie. We went to lunch on the golf course at the Park City Hotel on Thursday, and he was eating there too! I know I live a rough life. hahaha!

Change Overload

Dear family,

I am being transferred again :(

6 months, 2 missions, 2 mission presidents, 4 areas, 7 companions, 2 languages, 5 times moved.  I have set a record for most changes for sure! And I hate change. I am trying to learn to embrace change, but I guess I have a lot to learn.

I will send you a letter tomorrow to tell you where I am.  Yesterday we had a guy who was at church for the first time in 15 years.  We also have had so much luck with the members.  I can't even believe the way that missionary work has turned around in this stake! Before long this stake will be the best in all of Utah.  This going to be a really sad day.  We have to go say goodbye to so many people tonight.

I love the people in the Cottonwood area so much!  I have loved living with the Bagleys--they are soooo awesome.  There are just so many people I am going to miss.  I would just love to spend more than 6 weeks in an area.  I am sad and am feeling change overload.

I have had some wonderful experiences this transfer.  For those of you who read the blog, please know that I can't share most of them out of respect for the privacy of the awesome people I am teaching in Utah.  I have seen many miracles and know that God loves and knows His children.  I really do love this work!

Sister Walker

ps. I have no idea where I am being transferred, but maybe I'll be transferred to a Spanish area.

pss. I speak no Spanish :(

psss. I need to practice because I won't have much time in Argentina to learn the language.  (If I ever get there.) We'll shall see what happens.

psss. I am going to buy myself something pink to make me feel better.

pssss.  I am still Chloe :)
