Let's help the Lord keep his promises!

Hello,

Things are going okay, the work is pretty hard right now. I GOT THE RAINCOAT. IT IS AMAZING!  I can't believe you found the pink one!  I guess I'm ready for the Buenos Aires rain now.  Argentina, ready or not, here I come!

So not much big news this week.  We did a lot more finding and really relied on the Spirit to see where we needed to go.  Sometimes we would walk down a street and pray at every corner, which way we should turn. We had two really cool experiences.

First, we had an hour marked off that we were going to go see a member and teach a lesson to try and get a referral.  We prayed and looked at the ward list.  Sister Adorable then picked a name, and I looked it up on the map.  Then, we went there.  We felt good about our plan. We went to the house and knocked but no one answered.  We then walked around thinking that there had to be another reason that Heavenly Father would send us to that house.  We found no one and received no referrals.  We then went to dinner, and the elders gave us a referral.  After getting lost we finally found the house, and it was the house of the member that we had been at earlier, apparently the member has a grandmother that lives with her who is not a member.  We knocked on the door and were able to have a lesson with the grandmother.  Heavenly Father constantly reminds us that our time is never wasted. Which leads me to the next story...

On Saturday, we were walking around all morning.  Literally from 1-5 pm, we walked in the sun (yes, I got burned) and tried to find new investigators.  After a lot of hard work and prayer we got a couple referrals that didn't answer the door.  We went to dinner really depressed.  Then after dinner we were walking down a random street and saw two boys playing outside.  We decided to knock on the door, a lady answered who has been investigating the church for 20 years, and we put her on date to be baptized on June 15th.  She also has 5 children we are hoping will come to church.  Because we spent all of that time working in the morning, Heavenly Father trusted us and blessed us at the end of the day.

So although the work is difficult, I know that working hard proves to the Lord that he can trust us with his prepared children.  Like Eliza Walker says in the movie Legacy, "Let's help the Lord keep his promises."  If we are diligent and obedient, He will bless us.

That is awesome that Anna has that new movie (Errand of Angels).  At least if I am like Sister Taylor crying on the steps in the rain, I will be wearing a really cute pink rain coat :) who says you can't get through the hard times in style? haha!

I love you all!!
xoxo,

Hermana Chloe

THIS week in Layton

Hola,

We went to the temple this morning so I am getting online a little later.  We went to the Salt Lake Temple as you can see from the pictures :) President and Sister Winn were there because it is their last transfer before their mission is over.  I ended up sitting by Sister Winn the whole session, and it was fun. Sister Adorable and I are killing it with 4 people on date. We will hopefully have four more by this Sunday, which is our goal.  Because we get along so well and work so hard, Satan is working super hard on us, but we keep pushing through.  This last week I was super sick.  The flu.  I didn't eat anything from Sunday until about Thursday.

Best news of the week is that A. is getting baptized.  She finally decided that she wanted to marry her boyfriend, and their wedding is on Friday.  Then, she is getting baptized on Saturday.  This is all only going to happen if her divorce comes through, but it will because we scheduled everything in pen in our planners, so ya:)  But prayers for everything would be much appreciated.

M. is still on date.  Her daughter is so cute and super excited about her getting baptized. And we have other investigators who are progressing.  Our biggest problem is getting people to church, but that is going to be a big focus of our work this week.

Anna's dance was killer; she and Kamry look like the same person. They are sooo good. That triple turn was unreal!!  Good luck with the rest of school.  Marc and Nic I pray for you and your grades and your makeup work every day.  You can do it, don't lose the vision of what you have been working for.

Sister Adorable and I have been putting a lot of focus on planning.  We work to have four set of appointments, and one finding activity every single day.  And we find a new family and ask someone to be baptized every single day.  It sounds like it would be super hard, but once you go for two weeks and the Lord trusts you to keep your goals, he starts to bless you to find more of his children.

Thanks for my package grandma.  I went and picked it up from my old house! You are the greatest.  Awesome news about state swim, and congrats for playing pretty well (especially considering the wrist injuries) in golf Marc.

Our house of four girls is amazing.  We all get along so well.  I love them.  Sister Adorable had a bunny pee on her this week.  It was super funny.  I am doing well with no gluten.  It is so weird how sick it makes me.  Let me know if you have any questions.  Enjoy the heat.  It is cold here and rains a lot. Nevada is the world’s greatest state.  Overall, things are going great.  It will go even better when A.'s divorce comes through, and I can sleep again.

xoxo,

Hermana Chloe.

PS. It's been raining a lot lately.  It rained super hard this past week, and I wore your old pink London Fog raincoat I brought with me.  It didn't keep away the wet.  It just soaked into my coat.  Maybe it just has lost the waterproof coating over time.  If it's not too much trouble will you please send me a new one.  Could you get me one with a hood?  Thanks.  You know what I like :)

The Dream Team--Hermana Adorable and I

Dear Friends and Family,

Since we talked on Skype yesterday I don't have much to say.  It was so great to talk to you all and see your faces.  A little hard but great!

So this Wednesday we had transfers, and sadly Sister Corrales was moved to Salt Lake to train in English. Lame. But now I have Sister Adorable!!! Yes, that is her real name; it is pronounced Ah-door-ah-blay. We are like the same person. Sister Adorable  is me in filipino form, and she is my new best friend! So now we are killing it here in Layton.  We have two people on date, and on Thursday we found 6 new families.  So we are off to a great start. (Check out Sister Adorable's blog  http://hermanaadorable.blogspot.com)

Sister Adorable and I think we got food poisoning last night because we both are feeling super, super sick right now.  That is probably why nothing I say right now is making sense.  We moved houses after transfers, and moved into a little town house!!!!  Awesome huh?!  Sister Cleveland is still our roommate, and her companion is a Temple Square Sister.

Elder Verges is our district leader now.  He was AP last transfer and is awesome.  He's from Cordoba Argentina!  He is teaching me all about Argentina!  Basically, I am the most blessed missionary ever.  I went from one awesome companion to the next, and one awesome district leader to the next. AMAZING!

We spent Saturday in the hospital with sister Cleveland because she cut her ankle open  on her bike and had to get stitches.  She's gonna be fine, but that was the excitement for the week.

I love Layton.  I hear I might be leaving for Argentina on June 13th. (I don't know if I have my visa yet, but I am expecting it any day.)  I was really upset about the delay in going to Argentina, but I really love my companion.  So all is well.  And I love this gospel.  I know that it is true.  I know Jesus Christ is the only way to find happiness.  I know that because of the restoration, we have the power of God on the earth today.  I have noticed that people have a hard time referring their friends to the missionaries.  It is easy to think about random people being taught but not your closest friends.  DO NOT GET STUCK IN THAT TRAP.  What is the worst thing that could happen? They could say no.  Everyone needs the opportunity to choose for themselves.  No one can exercise their agency without first being invited.

I love you all.  Let the strengthening power of the Atonement of Jesus Christ help you through this week.  The gospel is not hard, life is hard.  The Lord's way is not hard.

xoxo,
Hermana Chloe

PS.  Good news.  Sister H.'s husband came home.  He got almost all the way to Mexico, but decided to come home.  What a blessing!  Also, I think this is going to be a long, hard week, and I would really appreciate some letters :) (Her new address is listed above.)

3 Months Done!! WHAT??

Dear friends and family,

No visa yet, but the big story from this week was we had three baptisms on Saturday! The Sister H. who has been investigating the gospel for over 3 years was finally able to be baptized.  She decided on Tuesday, and she and two of her children were baptized on Saturday.  I feel so blessed to be the set of missionaries that got to be here when it finally happened, so many people have been a part of this and it was so great.  For someone that was supposed to be having a great day, it really turned for her.  Her husband left her. (He was supposed to be getting baptized too.)  He literally left her, left a little money, and left for Mexico.  This was just hours before her baptism.  Sister H. has a spine injury from a car accident and cannot walk, stand, or move very well.  She is not only monetarily dependent on her husband but is physically dependent.  And he left her.  But she still showed up to her own baptism, full of the spirit, and grateful that she could finally be baptized.  She was baptized strapped to a chair by four men.  She came out of the water crying.  In her confirmation the next day, she was told that the Lord knows of the trials in her life, and that He is pleased with her decision to be baptized and will strengthen her through the Holy Ghost that she now has to make it through all the trials of her life.  So beautiful.  There were lots of tears this weekend!!!! Can't believe that this transfer I have been able to see four investigators make the decision and follow the spirit to be baptized.

We also have a new investigator.  She is on date for June 1st. The couple I told you about have decided that they need to get married, so she can get baptized.  So that is going to be planned as soon as her divorce (which should come in any day) comes through.  All of these great things are happening, but it is so sad because probably Sister Corrales or I will leave Wednesday.

Wednesday is transfer day.  I will send you a letter as soon as I find out where I am.  Odds are I will be the one that stays in Layton, but you never know.  Our mission is getting 20 new visa waiters.  I hear that our mission in Argentina is desperate for more missionaries, so even though I love it here, I hope that I get to leave soon.

Nick, Marc, Anna, Camron-I love you so much.  Sorry if you never hear from me.  I feel like I have only been out for a week so the time warp affects letters.
Bella- You are beautiful, don't forget it
Brody- You are not the brightest crayon in the box, but you are cute and I love you.
Mom- That is amazing about women's conference.  I wish I could have been there too. Glad you got to sharpen your saw :)

I love you all!! This week I have been practicing patience in all it's forms.  It is not always easy, and it doesn't even make you happy really in the short or long run, but I think that it is helping my life be more stress free.

Love you all,
Hermana Chloe
